About AnyQR
AnyQR is a QR code generator and reader that runs entirely in your browser. It is built by 5studios, a small independent software studio. There is no large company behind it, no investors, and no subscription plan waiting for you on the second screen.
Why everything is generated in your browser
Most QR generators send what you type to a server, process it there and hand you back an image. It works, but it means your WiFi password, your phone number or your contact details travelled through somebody else's computer and landed in some log file.
We do it the other way round: when you open the page, your browser downloads the code that draws the QR and works on its own from then on. What you type does not travel anywhere because it does not need to. It is a technical decision with a concrete consequence: we could not look at the contents of your codes even if we wanted to, because they never reach us.
The same goes for the reader. Images you upload and whatever the camera captures are processed on your device. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere.
How it is funded
By advertising. That is the model that lets us charge nothing, skip the sign-up and put no cap on how many codes you generate. It has an obvious ceiling: nobody is getting rich here, and that is fine.
What we do not do: we do not sell data, there is no paid tier with the good features hidden behind it, there is no watermark on the codes, and we are not going to ask for your email before letting you download your own QR.
What we generate and what we do not
We make static QR codes: the content lives inside the picture, they never expire, and they do not depend on this site continuing to exist. The flip side is that they cannot be edited once printed.
We do not make dynamic codes, the ones that let you change the destination after printing and count how many scans each one got. They need a server of our own redirecting every single read, with the monthly bill that implies, and above all they would make your codes depend on us staying alive. We would rather give you something that still works if we disappear tomorrow.
